Wrong Side of Mars Ch.2 Released
Pure Angst VN Studio has shipped Chapter 2 of Wrong Side of Mars, their animated 2DCG sci-fi corruption visual novel built on Ren’Py.
The new chapter continues the story of Neil navigating a bleak futuristic world where player decisions feed a pair of persistent stats: Command Authority and Emotional Stability. These metrics dynamically shift the pack hierarchy around Neil and alter the trajectory of Lena’s feelings — but the developer is upfront about the ceiling. “No matter what you do, you can’t win or change the inevitable,” the studio writes. “All you can do is choose the pain that perhaps is the least heartbreaking for you.”
That fatalistic design philosophy is what separates Wrong Side of Mars from genre peers. There is no golden route. Every decision matters precisely because none of them offer escape — only the shape of what’s lost.
Alongside the narrative expansion, Pure Angst continues to invest in production values, layering in Ren’Py animation, ambient sound, and visual polish to push immersion for a 2DCG project. The game also incorporates AI-CG elements alongside its hand-crafted art.
Chapter 2 is available now on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. Wrong Side of Mars supports English plus six additional languages.
