Trials in Tainted Space v0.9.162
Fenoxo’s long-running sci-fi sandbox Trials in Tainted Space has shipped v0.9.162, and this build’s focus is a combat rebalance around how stun and lust-resistance interact — a fix that changes math players have been relying on for a while.
Previously, a piece of gear or ability that “indicated a 75% resistance to lust attacks” was only ever applying that resistance to the player’s own tease attacks, not to stunned targets generally. Fenoxo explains the fix directly:
“It has been corrected to apply to ANY stunned party, including the PC, however the damage reduction has been reduced from 75% to 50%. In effect, teasing stunned foes should be a little stronger, and enemies with stuns and lust damage should be a little weaker.”
The net effect is a two-sided rebalance: players teasing a stunned enemy now hit harder than before, while enemies that combine stun effects with lust damage against the player character lose some of their bite. It’s a small numbers change on paper, but for a game as deep into its systems as TiTS, this kind of correction can meaningfully shift which builds and encounter strategies are actually optimal.
Trials in Tainted Space remains one of the most content-dense adult RPGs available, blending character creation, turn-based combat, and hundreds of explicit encounters across a sprawling sci-fi setting. It’s playable on Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux, with backer builds landing on Patreon ahead of public releases.
