Trials in Tainted Space v0.9.160

By MaC

Fenoxo’s sprawling sci-fi adult sandbox Trials in Tainted Space has pushed another backer build live, bringing v0.9.160 with combat system improvements, a critical save-data repair, and a round of scene polish from long-time contributor Jacques00.

The headline fix is a save version upgrader deployed specifically for characters with existing Medical Milker installations. Without it, affected saves could result in permanent, bugged enhancements to the character’s lower-row stats — the upgrader resolves that silently on load. Fenoxo notes the team has pushed the save system to its limits reaching this point, signalling how deep into final development the project now sits.

On the combat side, the update expands the reactive anti-drone attack to support new “drone” types, paired with improved effect visibility and cleaner combat information displays — a quality-of-life win for players navigating TiTS’s dense encounter systems. A lingering formatting bug that scattered unwanted new line returns and extra spaces across scenes has also been squashed.

Jacques00 contributed scene consistency work, evening out rendering across encounters that had minor visual inconsistencies.

Trials in Tainted Space is a text-based sci-fi RPG with 2DCG art, covering everything from character creation to alien worlds, faction politics, and hundreds of unique encounters. It runs on Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux. Backer builds release via Patreon first; public builds typically follow after a short window.
