Magic Academy v0.6.4.2 Released

By MaC

Magic Academy’s v0.6.4.2 public build is now live from WildPear Games, bringing two notable gameplay additions and an under-the-hood engine upgrade to one of the more content-rich 2D fantasy sandboxes in active development.

The headline additions this update are personal quests and a random emotions system. Personal quests give individual characters their own storyline objectives, fleshing out the academy cast beyond their roles in the main sandbox loop. The random emotions system layers reactive NPC behaviour on top of existing interactions — characters now respond more dynamically rather than following fixed scripts, which should make repeat visits to favourite characters feel less predictable.

On the technical side, the Unity engine has been bumped to a newer version. WildPear notes the update was driven by Unity itself flagging security vulnerabilities in the previous build, so this is less a feature release and more good housekeeping. The team also reports the grid system is currently locked at 4×4.

Magic Academy is a 2D animated sandbox set in a fantasy academy, following a male protagonist through relationships with a varied cast including monster girls and futa characters. One of its more distinctive features is broad localisation: the game ships in eight languages — English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Russian, Latin American Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. The v0.6.4.2 public build runs on Windows, Mac, and Android.
